Appalachian Ohio Manufacturers’ Coalition Celebrates Successful Summer Internship Program
The Appalachian Ohio Manufacturers’ Coalition (AOMC) proudly concluded its 2025 Summer Internship Program on August 14, marking the end of an enriching 11-week experience for four talented local students. From May 27 through August 14, interns Caleb Brown, Brodic Stewart, Claire Mangiafico, and Collin Line gained valuable hands-on experience, developed technical skills, and built connections with leaders in the region’s manufacturing industry.
The program culminated with each intern delivering a final presentation, highlighting their individual projects, achievements, and lessons learned. The students worked on a variety of assignments that combined creative design, technical problem-solving, and manufacturing processes—from welding and 3D modeling to laser cutting and custom fabrication.
Caleb Brown, who explored Fusion 360 design software extensively, expressed pride in creating both a model for organized grinder blades and a custom fire pit. Brodic Stewart refined his welding skills while designing and constructing a fire pit, which he described as a “real sense of accomplishment.” Claire Mangiafico added an artistic touch to her projects, blending creativity with technical precision, and noted the value of adapting to a fast-paced production environment. Collin Line developed advanced skills in laser cutting and 3D modeling, producing a redesigned water filter stand as one of his first autonomous projects.
“This summer’s interns demonstrated incredible initiative, curiosity, and commitment to learning,” said Dana Hermann, Executive Director of AOMC. “They not only developed technical skills that will serve them in future careers, but also strengthened essential professional soft skills; such as communication, teamwork, and adaptability, that will help them thrive in any workplace. They also deepened their understanding of the diverse and thriving manufacturing opportunities right here in Appalachian Ohio. We are proud to help prepare the next generation of makers, innovators, and problem-solvers.”
The AOMC Summer Internship Program is part of the coalition’s broader mission to strengthen the manufacturing workforce pipeline by offering career exploration, skill development, and industry connections for young people across the region.
